Nomination Process

In May 2012, Inside Business will present the prestigious ATHENA Award to two individuals in Northeast Ohio. Named in recognition of the Greek goddess of wisdom and courage, this award is presented to someone who has attained and embodies the highest level of professional excellence in her/his business or profession, has devoted time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community and actively assists women in realizing their leadership potential.

Within your organization there are undoubtedly individuals who are outstanding professional and community leaders. We encourage you to let us know who they are.

THE CRITERIA

ATHENA Award Nominees must meet the following criteria:
  • Actively assist women in realizing their full leadership potential
  • Provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community
  • Demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession  
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nominees must live and/or work within the Greater Cleveland or Greater Akron areas.
  • Involvement, achievement and leadership must be demonstrated by the nominee.
  • Previous ATHENA nominees and finalists are eligible for nomination.
  • Previous ATHENA Award recipients are not eligible for nomination. 
SELECTION PROCESS
  • The ATHENA Award Selection Committee will be comprised of prominent business leaders and past ATHENA Award recipients.
  • Approximately 10 individuals will be selected as ATHENA Award finalists and honored at the 2012 ATHENA Awards Dinner in May 2012.
  • One individual from the Greater Cleveland area and one individual from the Greater Akron area will be announced as the 2012 ATHENA Awards recipients at the awards dinner in May. 

YOUNG PROFESSIONAL AWARD

In addition to the ATHENA Award, Inside Business will once again present the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award at the 2012 ATHENA Awards Dinner. A natural extension of the ATHENA Award, the Young Professional Leadership Award will honor an exceptional individual 35 years of age or younger who is an emerging leader in her/his business or profession, who gives back to the community in meaningful ways and who clearly serves as a role model for young women both personally and professionally.
