Plan a green company outing


Getting out of the office doesn’t mean you can’t stay green. Victoria Avi, of Entrepreneurs for Sustainability, suggests the following to limit the ecological mark your event makes.

  • Transportation: Arrange a car pool or bus to get employees to and from the site.
  • Local food: Buy local. It supports area farmers and manufacturers, and cuts down on the number of miles your food is shipped.
  • Ceramic, not plastic: Use reusable dishes, cups and silverware. A hassle to wash? Yes. “But it’s still less energy than needed to landfill it,” Avi says.
