Green your commute
The key to an Earth-friendly morning commute is pretty self-evident: Use less gas by opting to carpool, take the bus or bike. No matter your method, John McGovern of the Earth Day Coalition suggests a few online tools for making the switch a little easier:
- For carpoolers: OhioRideshare (ohiorideshare.com) matchs commuters based on compatible start and end locations. “It’s just a matter of being willing to try something new. It’s a little inconvenient at first, but it’s something you can learn from,” McGovern says.
- Bus it: RTA has teamed up with Google Transit (google.com/transit) to provide travelers with detailed bus and train routes, time tables and transit times for specific commutes.
- Bikers: The best way to green your commute, biking is a limited option for many. But for those who can, OhioBikeBuddies (ohiorideshare.com) links riding partners based on similar destinations.
